Hope, in reality, is worst of all evils because it prolongs the torments of man. Friedrich Nietzsche
Paminsan-minsan, pinagbibigyan ko ang aking sariling mangarap.
Dreaming is a vice, a forbidden fruit, a guilty pleasure I sometimes allow myself to wallow in. I guess, this is age setting in… I used to be so un-"me." I used to set the world on fire with my ideals, my lofty dreams...
Sometimes, a small part of me considers that Nietzsche is telling the truth when he said, "Hope, in reality, is worst of all evils because it prolongs the torments of man." He seems to be saying that hopes don't give fruits, it just prolongs the agony. Ang pag-asa raw any pinakamasidhing kasamaan, sapagkat pinatatagal lamang nito any pagdurusa ng tao.
However… what is life without hope but a cruel, overcast world of pains and nights. What is night without the prospect of a dawn? For what will be all toil when there is no hope for better times?
Let this be my way of convincing myself that I need to hang in there and believe that life will be unfurling more beautiful things someday; na kaya ko pang magsikhay sa buhay na puno ng pakikibaka.
Funny that green used to be a color of hope and new beginnings, but for people above 30, green becomes the color jade--as in jaded. Funny how even the way colors are understood changes depending on who views it. Well, this is true for so many other things that it can be taught in natural science classes. Things appear depending on how they are viewed, on what vantage point they are perceived.

A cloak of sadness hung heavily in the room. Inside my heart, a patina of gloom as well lies over my tarnished soul.
Arise and dispel this beckoning madness, Beloved. Take me not away from your thoughts. Hold my heart, as if a prisoner, of your grace…. of your grace.
